Partially verified - the Central Bank of Somalia's own press release names the four first-ever licensed takaful companies (board decision 24 Jan 2026), but the CBS publishes no standing register page, so a later licence cannot be ruled out · Central Bank of Somalia press release Ref. 1746-CU-01/27, 27 January 2026, 'Central Bank of Somalia (CBS) Grants First Licenses to Takaful (Islamic Insurance) companies': at its meeting on 24 January 2026 the CBS Board approved the licensing applications of four takaful insurance companies - First Somali Takaful Insurance LTD, Amanah Insurance LTD, Baraka Takaful Insurance LTD and Salmaster Insurance. Retrieved as the CBS's own PDF and, independently, as the post body from the CBS WordPress REST API in both English and Somali.
Reconciled against the Central Bank of Somalia's press release of 27 January 2026, which names the four first-ever licensed takaful companies. The single existing row, Takaful Insurance of Africa (Somalia), is not among them and was removed; the four licensees were added. The CBS took over insurance supervision under the Islamic Insurance (Takaful) Law of May 2025 and publishes no standing register page.
