The Bank of PNG supervises life insurance under the 2000 act. General-insurance supervision is a distinct remit; the life-sector source must not be treated as evidence for the entire market.

Life insurance verified against the Bank of PNG list of companies authorised under the Life Insurance Act 2000 (5 companies, 17 Jul 2025): Capital Life Insurance, Life Insurance Corporation (PNG), Pacific MMI Insurance and Workers Mutual Insurance (PNG) are on it, Workers Mutual annotated 'under liquidation'. BSP Life (PNG) Limited was added and Kina Life removed, neither being on that list. The seven remaining general insurance rows (210-213, 215-217) are untouched: the Office of the Insurance Commissioner licenses general insurance under the Insurance Act 1995 and its register could not be retrieved, so the market stays partially verified.
